Makeup Revolution Review

So I thought I would give the world my first review of 2016 this week starting with the makeup brand Makeup Revolution. I first discovered this brand when I was browsing the many make up stands in my local Superdrug, and was amazed at the low prices! Before I dived into this intriguing brand I did some research, reading many blogs and reviews online which all indicated one thing:

So I picked up a couple of palettes and lip glosses and have tried them for the past couple of weeks. So here we go!

SALVATION PALETTE ICONIC PRO 1 – eyeshadow palette

This palette is beautiful!!♥️ It contains 16 wonderfully pigmented shades suitable for any beginner and the perfect look for anytime. Concealed in wonderful black, sophisticated packaging with rose gold writing, the palette comes with a double ended application brush and an extremely useful large mirror. Another reason I love this brand is that they name each eyeshadow (hurray!!) so I can share with you some of my favourite shades. The palette ranges from neutrals, to pinks, and even some dark colour – perfect for a smokey eye; containing 8 matt shades and 8 shimmer shades the palette meets everyones needs! The shades I am loving at this current point in time are: Fade, Afflicted, Breathe, Stage and Dawn (Left to Right).

ICONIC BLUSH BRONZE & BRIGHTEN FLUSH – bronzer, highlighter and blush

This trio is a perfect addition to anyones makeup collection offering a pigmented bronzer, highlighter and blush all in one. Again, this palette comes in similar packaging to the Iconic Pro 1 however I am a little disappointed with it. The product comes in a small handy sized, reflective black packaging (unlike the matt black Iconic Pro 1 packaging) with printed  branding, rather than embossed. The branding on my palette has started to rub off which is a little disappointing, however despite this for the £4.00 of the product I would defiantly recommend! The products themselves are very pigment and apply gently to the skin. They blend well, and although appear darker than my swatches show, may provide those much needed dupes for the high end trios!

INTENSE LIPGLOSS in the shade ???

Now this lipgloss doesn’t appear to have a shade name, which is rather irritating. The shade comes in a good size with an applicator included (although most do these day!). I was surprised by the product itself – but not necessarily in a good way! I found that the colour of the lipgloss was very limited and had little staying power, which was disappointing. This, as well as the shimmer in the lipgloss which I am usually against for myself, means I wouldn’t recommended this product or repurchase again.

SALVATION VELVET LACQUER in the shade velvet rebel

Now I had a little worry following the previous lipgloss, but was pleasantly surprised by this gloss. The colour is very intense and if I wore this out and about I would definitely use a similar shade lip pencil to outline first. The gloss is also matt, which helps with its considerably longer staying power than the intense lipgloss. However I found after a couple of hours the lip lacquer began to ‘peel’ off. Now this may come across as a strange phenomena to many, as it was to me when it first happened. The lipgloss literally peeled off, and I was left with patchy lips! HOWEVER, that said I would recommend this product. To most people’s surprised I actually enjoyed using this makeup product and would probably repurchase this, and maybe venture into some new colour choices;)

So there we have it! A couple of products I recently purchased at my local Superdrug and would recommended in most cases you do too! I am really excited about Make up Revolution, it is a good quality brand and reasonable priced, and I cannot wait for further products!

Keep Smiling 🙂

Scrummy Oreo Cookies

So the other day I found this AMAZING recipe for oreo cookies, so I thought I would share it with you. Now these are great to sit down with a warm hot chocolate and a fluffy blanket in these colder temperatures! I find them also great to use as tasty rewards while I am working or revising – particularly with exam season coming up!

So my challenge to all you is to try out this recipe and post your results below!

Prep Time: 20 mins

Cooking Time: 10 mins

  • 200g Plain Flour
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 50g Light Brown Sugar
  • 100g White Sugar
  • 110g Butter
  • 50g Chocolate Chips
  • 14 Oreos
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Egg

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  2. Carefully add in the egg and vanilla until just mixed, make sure not to overbeat.
  3. Crush up the oreos (you can smash them with a rolling pin, or chop them up with a knife – this is how I like to do this step!).
  4. Add in the flour and baking powder and mix together until fully incorporated.
  5. Stir in the oreos and chocolate chips, trying not to mix to much.
  6. Using spoons, form small balls and place them onto a lined baking tray.
  7. Use the back of of a fork to gently press the cookie out a little.
  8. Place in the oven for about 10 minutes, until they are lightly golden brown.
  9. Once cooked remove from the tray and place on a cooling rack to rest.

I really love this fun recipe and think it is a great treat for all you out there! Have fun with the recipe and make sure you leave your end products below!

Keep Smiling 🙂
